HEARTH – Help with housing in Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties in Northern New York
Eligibility
Each eligible person must be at or below 50% of the median income and have ONE of the following factors:
- Eviction pending within 2 weeks
- Sudden/significant loss of income
- Sudden/significant increase in utility costs
- Credit problems
- Housing cost is more than 50% of income
- Families with children under 2 yrs old.
- Young head of household (under 25 with children or pregnant)
- Living in housing that has been condemned
- Recent traumatic life event
- Multiple families in single family home
- Overcrowded household
- Mental health and/or substance abuse issues
- Physical disabilities and/or chronic health issues (including HIV/AIDS)
- Have been homelessness within last 12 months
- Significant amount of medical debt
- Extremely low income (30% of median)
- Pending foreclosure of rental housing
- Currently experiencing a housing crisis
- Past institutional Care
- Eviction from public or assisted housing
- Involvement in child welfare, including foster care
- Discharge within 2 weeks from an institution where the person have been a resident for more the 180 days (including prisons, mental health institutions and hospitals)
